October 23, 2025
The IAPG Renewable Energy Conversion Working Group (RECWG) Marine Energy Panel “Devices of Opportunity” Virtual Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, and will be held virtually through Microsoft Teams.
Meeting Goals
The IAPG emphasizes program coordination and dissemination of technical information to increase the effectiveness of government programs, avoid duplication, identify technology gaps, and maximize research success. The RECWG Marine Renewable Energy meeting will provide a forum for cross-cutting review of current government research activities across IAPG member agencies: the Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Energy, NASA, and the Department of Transportation.
Goals of the interagency discussion on marine energy include:
- Discuss opportunities to reuse a government-funded tidal energy converter and a wave energy converter.
Background
An ocean current harvester and a wave energy converter, developed under federal contracts, are available for reuse. These devices represent a significant prior investment and offer an opportunity to mature marine energy technologies through further deployment and data collection, potentially saving new development costs and accelerating timelines.
Specifically:
- Hydrokinetic Kite Ocean Current Harvester
- Oscilla’s Triton-C Wave Energy Converter
Meeting Attendees — Please Review Carefully
Attendance is limited to U.S. citizens.
- Government employees, including Intergovernmental Personnel Act employees.
- Employees of federally funded R&D centers (FFRDCs). This applies only to employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. See the Master List of FFRDCs.
- Captive Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) contractors, meaning those assigned exclusively to a government agency or program.
