IAPG Mechanical Working Group (MWG) Hybrid Meeting 2026

The Interagency Advanced Power Group (IAPG) Mechanical Working Group (MWG) Hybrid Meeting is scheduled for May 12–14, 2026, at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California. In-person participation is preferred; however, a virtual option will be available through Microsoft Teams.

Meeting Theme

The theme of the meeting is “Extreme Environments.”

Meeting Goals

The IAPG strives to share information and increase effectiveness of the interagency Research and Development (R&D) Programs in a wide realm of Advanced Power. Each year, the MWG meeting provides a forum for a crosscutting review of current Government research activities across the interest of MWG participants within the IAPG Member Agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Energy, NASA, and the Department of Transportation).

Meeting Attendees / Guests – Please Review Carefully

Attendance at the MWG Meeting is limited to U.S. persons – citizens or lawful permanent residents (LPR’s), also known as permanent resident aliens (PRA’s) or green card holders.

There will be a government-only session held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. This session is limited to:

  1. U.S. government employees, including Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) assignees.

Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and Thursday, May 14, 2026, are open to:

  1. U.S. government employees, including IPA assignees.
  2. Captive Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) government contractors – those currently holding grants or contracts with a U.S. government agency. This would include academic institutions, as well as both on-site and off-site performers.
  3. Federally Funded R&D Centers (FFRDC) Employees – this only includes employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. View the master list of FFRDCs.

Visitor Requests – ALL attendees

  • U.S. citizen/person visit requests must be received by April 28, 2026. Additional information will be provided with registration confirmation.
  • NASA badged employees will need to submit a center-to-center visit request through the NASA Identity Management and Account Exchange (IdMAX).

All non-NASA attendees will receive an e-mail from JPL security and will need to input the requested personal information for processing.

Badging

Visitors must check in upon arrival at the JPL Visitor Control Office, located just inside the Main Gate and directly across from the Visitor Parking Lot. Please note the hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. and is only accessible via the Main Gate.

All U.S. citizens/persons must present official government-issued photo identification (Real ID driver’s license or passport) before being granted entry to JPL.

During the registration process, please ensure you are providing your full legal name as it appears on the government issued ID you will be using for identification at JPL.

Abstract Submissions

To ensure the proper evaluation of abstracts submitted for the 2026 IAPG MWG Meeting, all speakers for the Technical Session, scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, are required to submit an abstract. Abstracts should be 1–2 paragraphs in length and should include the presentation title, speaker(s) full name, affiliation, complete mailing address, telephone number, and email address. See attached to submit an abstract for consideration. The deadline for abstract submission is March 10, 2026.

Presentations due May 5, 2026

Final presentations in MS PowerPoint or Adobe PDF format are to be sent to Renee O’Brokta by COB May 5, 2025. All presentations must be received in advance for download to registered participants. Please ensure you can meet the May 5, 2026, presentation deadline if requesting a timeslot.

Food Accommodations

While there is no registration fee, a minimal fee will be collected on-site to cover costs for beverages and snacks provided during the meeting. Lunch will be held at the JPL cafeteria, and at your own expense.

If your attendance plans change, please contact Renee O’Brokta to cancel your registration so we may avoid unnecessary charges.

Group Dinner

A no-host group dinner is planned for the evening of Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Charges will be individually billed. If you would like to attend, please indicate so on your registration form.
