The Interagency Advanced Power Group (IAPG) Electrical Systems Working Group (ESWG) Hybrid Meeting is scheduled for March 17–19, 2026, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Hardin Valley Campus in Knoxville, Tennessee. The virtual participation option will be available via Microsoft Teams.

The theme of the meeting is “Electrical Technology Advancements Towards Energy Dominance.”
Meeting Goals
The Interagency Advanced Power Group (IAPG) works to share information and increase the effectiveness of interagency research and development (R&D) programs across a broad range of advanced power topics. Each year, the Electrical Systems Working Group (ESWG) meeting provides a forum for a crosscutting review of current government research activities aligned with the interests of ESWG participants within the IAPG member agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Energy, NASA, and the Department of Transportation).

Meeting Attendees/Guests – Please Review Carefully
Attendance at the ESWG meeting is limited to U.S. citizens only.
There will be a government-only session held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, and the morning of Wednesday, March 18, 2026. This session is limited to:
- U.S. government employees, including Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) assignees.
There will be a technical session held on Thursday, March 19, 2026. This session is open to:
- U.S. government employees, including IPA assignees.
- Captive advisory and assistance services (A&AS) government contractors.
- Employees of federally funded research and development centers (FFRDCs). This includes only employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. A master list of FFRDCs is available at the National Science Foundation website.
- Government contractors currently holding grants or contracts with a U.S. government agency. This includes academic institutions as well as both on-site and off-site performers.

Pre-registration is required for in-person and virtual attendees.

Upon arrival at the Hardin Valley Campus, visitors will proceed to the lobby of the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility for visitor badging.

On-site parking is available at the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility. Ride share services (Uber, Lyft, taxi) may drive directly to the facility for attendee drop-off / pick-up but please allow extra time for ride share services, they are not readily available in the Knoxville area.

The Manufacturing Demonstration Facility is approximately 18 miles, or a 20-minute drive from the Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS).

Food Accommodations
While there is no registration fee, $10.00 per person, per day, will be collected through the online registration process to cover costs for beverages, and snacks provided during registration, and morning / afternoon breaks. Lunch will be on your own. There are several restaurants within walking distance of the facility.
If your attendance plans change, please contact Renee O’Brokta to cancel your registration to avoid unnecessary charges. The deadline for cancellation is March 10, 2026. Refunds cannot be issued after this date.
Facility Tours
Tours of ORNL’s Hardin Valley Campus are scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Tours are open to all meeting attendees. Facilities included:

DOE Public Bus Tours – Friday, March 20, 2026
We are working to confirm availability for the Department of Energy’s Public Bus Tour which is a one-of-a-kind tour that visits some of the primary sites of the Manhattan Project and the world’s fastest cutting edge super computer in Oak Ridge, TN. Each site: Y-12 New Hope Center, Oak Ridge National Laboratory: Super Computer Center and the K-25 History Center allows guests to see and visit the facilities that helped fuel the Atomic Age. The tour is 3.5 hours and requires a lot of walking and standing. Note, arrive at 8:15, Museum doors open at 8:30, boarding begins at 8:45, depart at 9:00 a.m. SHARP. Tours will conclude by 12:30 p.m.
If confirmed, a limited number of tickets for the tour on Friday, March 20, 2026, will be available for purchase by ESWG meeting participants. Tickets are $15 per person. Information about tour times, and itinerary is available on the DOE Public Bus Tours website. Please indicate on your registration if you are interested in participating.
Group Dinner
A no-host group dinner is planned for the evening of Wednesday, March 18, 2026. Charges will be billed individually. Please indicate on your registration if you would like to attend so an approximate number of attendees can be provided to the restaurant in advance.
