The Interagency Advanced Power Group (IAPG) Chemical Working Group and Safety Panel Hybrid Meeting is scheduled for September 19–21, 2023, at the U.S. Military Academy West Point,in West Point, New York. The virtual portion will be hosted through MS Teams.
Meeting Goals
The IAPG strives to share information and increase the effectiveness of interagency research and development (R&D) programs in a wide realm of advanced power technologies. The CWG meeting will provide a forum for a cross-cutting review of current government research activities across the interest of CWG members within the IAPG Member Agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Energy, NASA, and the Department of Transportation).
The IAPG CWG Safety Panel Meeting provides a forum to exchange information related to technical and safety issues involving batteries, fuel cells, and ultracapacitors used in government-wide applications.

Attendance at the Chemical Working Group (CWG) Meeting is limited to:
- U.S. government employees, including Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA) assignees.
- Onsite contractors at government operated laboratories working under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Employer is precluded from competing for open R&D solicitation (captive).
- Employees of FFRDC’s. This only includes employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. View the master list of FFRDC’s.
- Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Employees. View for more information on STRL.
- Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) Employees.
Attendance at the Safety Panel Meeting is limited to:
- U.S. government employees, including IPA assignees.
- Onsite contractors from a government operated laboratory working under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Employer must be precluded from competing for open R&D solicitation (captive).
- Employees of Federally Funded R&D Centers (FFRDCs). This only includes employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. View the master list of FFRDC’s.
- Science and Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Employees. View for more information on STRL.
- Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) Employees.
- *Approved government contractors – those currently holding grants or contracts with a U.S. government agency. This would include both onsite and offsite performers.
*Requests for approval of non-U.S. government employees (U.S. government contractors) who have not participated in the CWG or Safety Panel Meeting the previous year, must be submitted in writing, and sent to Julie Simmons and Giuseppe Di Benedetto. The deadline for requests is August 18, 2023. Requests received after this date cannot be accepted.

Pre-registration is required for in-person and virtual participants. Walk-in/day-of meeting registrations will not be permitted. The deadline for in-person registration and visitor requests: September 1, 2023. This is a HARD DEADLINE; timely registration/ submission is mandatory. The deadline for virtual participation: September 12, 2023.
Visitors
Visitors with a valid Department of Defense (DoD) Identification may proceed through any of the entrance gates.
If you are not a Department of Defense issued identification card holder you must submit visit request information via ENCRYPTED email to christopher.w.benn.civ@army.mil no later than September 1, 2023. All non-DoD attendees must stop at the Visitor Control Center at 2107 New South Post Road, West Point, NY 10996, to pick up their pass on the first morning. Identification Requirements to Enter West Point
If you do not have a Department of Defense issued identification card, you will be considered one of two categories: Escorted Visitor or Unescorted Visitor.
Escorted Visitors: Escorted visitors are persons who enter West Point accompanied by a qualified escort. Escorted visitors do not need to visit the Visitor Control Center but must remain with the qualified escort and always have in their possession an approved form of identification.
Unescorted Visitors: For visitors 17 years of age and above, you will need to have in your possession a valid photo ID (current driver’s license from a REAL ID Act compliant state, or passport).

Tours of West Point are being planned for the afternoon of Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Tours are open to all meeting attendees.
Transportation
The airports near West Point, NY include Stewart-Newburgh (SWF); White Plains Westchester County (HPN); Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).
Directions
West Point is on the west bank of the Hudson River, approximately 40 miles north of New York City. Traveling to West Point from New York City takes approximately one- and one-half hours by car. View West Point driving directions.
Parking
All attendees will park at Buffalo Soldier Field and shuttle to the Kendrick Auditorium. Shuttle service hours of operation are 0800–1645 daily. It is approximately one mile from Buffalo Soldier Field Parking Lot to Bartlett Hall. Carpooling is encouraged.

Food Accommodations
While there is no registration fee, $14 per person, per day, will be collected through the online registration process to cover the continental breakfast/beverages. Lunch will be held at the West Point Club, costs will be on your own/individually billed.
If your attendance plans change, please contact Renee O’Brokta to cancel your registration so we may adjust food quantities to avoid unnecessary charges. The deadline for cancellation is Friday, September 8, 2023. Refunds cannot be issued after this date.
Group Dinner
A group dinner is planned for the evening of Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Charges will be individually billed. Please indicate on your registration if you would like to attend so an approximate number of attendees can be provided to the restaurant in advance.
Presentations due September 12, 2023
Final presentations in MS PowerPoint or Adobe PDF format should be sent to Renee O’Brokta no later than September 12, 2023. Presentations should follow Distribution C (Distribution authorized to U.S. government agencies and their contractors) Guidelines. All presentations must be received in advance for distribution to virtual participants.
