IAPG Renewable Energy Conversion Working Group (RECWG) Marine Energy Panel Hybrid Meeting 2026

The Interagency Advanced Power Group (IAPG) Renewable Energy Conversion Working Group (RECWG) Marine Energy Panel Hybrid Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2026, is being hosted by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), at the U.S. Department of the Interior, Stewart Lee Udall Building, Washington, DC. A virtual option will be available via Microsoft Teams.

Meeting Goals

The IAPG emphasizes program coordination and dissemination of technical information to increase the effectiveness of government programs, avoid duplication, identify technology gaps, and maximize success in research efforts. The RECWG Marine Renewable Energy meeting will provide a forum for a cross-cutting review of current government research activities across the interests of members within the IAPG Member Agencies (Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of Energy, NASA, and the Department of Transportation).

Goals of the interagency discussion on marine energy include:

  • Sharing knowledge and inspiring enthusiasm on the potential of marine energy technologies.
  • Identifying stakeholders and collaborators that have an interest in marine energy technologies or applications.
  • Identifying potential early uses and early adopters of marine energy technologies in the federal government.

The meeting will be held in the South Penthouse. DOI personnel will be required to escort visitors from the C Street entrance to the South Penthouse.

Meeting Attendees – Please Review Carefully

Attendance is limited to U.S. persons – U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents (LPRs), also known as permanent resident aliens (PRAs) or green card holders.

  • Government employees, including Intergovernmental Personnel Act employees.
  • Federally Funded R&D Centers (FFRDC) Employees. This only includes employees of the FFRDC, not the administering entity. View the master list of FFRDCs.
  • Captive Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) government contractors – those currently holding grants or contracts with a U.S. government agency. This includes contractors employed at DoD STRLs.

Metro Travel

Farragut West (Blue, Orange, and Silver Lines) and Farragut North (Red Line) are the closest Metro stops. The public entrance to the Udall Building is approximately six blocks south on C Street NW, between 18th and 19th Streets.

Parking

Metered street parking in the vicinity of the Udall Building is available but limited. Meters operate via the ParkMobile parking app, but most also accept coins and credit cards. There are also several public parking garages located within a few blocks of the building.

Visitor Information

All visitors must enter the Udall Building through the C Street lobby, which is located on C Street NW, between 18th and 19th Streets.

  • All individuals over 18 years of age are required to present valid, government-issued photo identification to enter the building.
    • It is encouraged to bring your federal employee ID (PIV, CAC, or other) when going through security.
    • Other accepted forms of identification are REAL ID, Enhanced Driver’s License, Enhanced ID card, Tribal ID, or passport.
  • All visitors are subject to security screenings, including bag and parcel checks. Please note that there are no locker facilities for visitors to store belongings.

The entry process typically takes less than 10 minutes.

Food Accommodations

There are several eateries within walking distance of the Udall Building. In addition, local restaurants offer pop-up food services in the basement level of the Udall Building from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Thursday. Because only a limited number of meals for walk-up customers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, it is recommended to pre-order through the contractor’s website/app, fooda.com and select “Stewart Lee Udall Building-DOI” as the location. 

Social

A no-host social is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, April 23, 2026, immediately following the meeting. Charges will be billed individually.

Presentations

If you plan to present at the meeting, an electronic copy of your Distribution C (Distribution authorized to U.S. Government Agencies and their contractors) presentation in MS PowerPoint or Adobe PDF format should be sent to Renee O’Brokta, IAPG Support Specialist, at renee.obrokta@nasa.gov, no later than April 15, 2026. The use of Mac or specialized graphics software for your presentation is not available.
